“Governor Mbah to Empower Enugu Livestock Farmers with Modern Training outside the State.
…….As Dr. Onoh Assures Enugu North Residents Will Lead in achieving a giant stride in State’s Livestock Investment.
Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State is set to train numerous Enugu State livestock farmers on Artificial Insemination a modern cattle-rearing mechanisms and strategies.
The State Project Director, Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES), Dr. Ifeyinwa Nnajieze, made this known on Wednesday when she led the Enugu State L-PRES team on a courtesy call to the Chairman of Enugu North Local Government Area, Dr. Ibenaku Onoh, as part of their ongoing sensitization program on livestock farming across the state.
She stated that the state government is committed to ensuring that Enugu becomes a center of opportunity for livestock farmers across the farming chains.
She explained that the citizens selected for training will learn artificial insemination, cross breeding practices and many other.
According to Dr. Nnajieze, “We are sending livestock farmers to learn modern cattle-rearing techniques. They will act as service providers who will train others. Our Governor wants Enugu to lead in livestock farming and its business chain.”
Regarding their ongoing sensitization program, Dr. Nnajieze stated that it aims to engage Enugu residents and citizens in livestock activities as the nation now has a new Ministry for Livestock Production and Management.
She urged all livestock rearers in the state to take advantage of this opportunity by registering, which would ensure their data appears on the national coordinating database, positioning them to benefit from any substantial government intervention.
“Our mission is to help our people gain a clear understanding of modern livestock farming. The Federal Government recently created a Ministry of Livestock, and we need our people to register to be able to participate in national programs so far the National data base in Abuja shows a low turn up registration from state hence the need to mobilize our people for this free livestock registration. We want our council chairmen to lead grassroots sensitization efforts so that our people can benefit. Once you register, your data is recorded, and you will be informed of any intervention, grant, or assistance from the government or non-governmental organizations. It’s essential for our people to understand that the level of aid available depends on the number of registrants, as this data directly attracts material support distributed only to registered beneficiaries.”
Responding to the visit, Enugu North Local Government Chairman, Dr. Ibenaku Onoh, expressed that he is not surprised by the commitment shown by Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s leadership in improving the capacity of livestock farmers in the state.
He stated that his administration has already begun grassroots sensitization to involve the residents of Enugu North in the program, assuring that his administration will always provide L-PRES with the necessary support to thrive.
Dr. Onoh praised Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for the significant achievements made through L-PRES, which have led to Enugu acquiring a modern regional livestock hospital, anthrax vaccines, and more.
He encouraged livestock farmers across the state to register to better position themselves within the livestock farming and production chain.
