L-PRES Enugu recently conducted a sensitization visit to Igbo Etiti Local Government, focusing on livestock farmers’ profiling and mapping. The initiative aims to educate local officials and farmers about enhancing livestock productivity and resilience which include data collection on farmers, establishing partnerships with local authorities, and tailoring support programs to community needs.
Dr. Ifeyinwa Elizabeth Nnajieze, the State Project Coordinator for L-PRES Enugu State, was represented by Engr. Ikechukwu the project engineer and other team of the L-PRES Enugu. The initiative aims to enhance livestock productivity and resilience in Enugu State, aligning with Governor Peter Mbah’s agricultural development goals. The project focuses on providing training, resources, and support to local farmers to improve their farming practices and economic stability.
Engineer Ikechukwu successfully engaged the chairman and stakeholders of Igbo Etiti Local Government in discussions about the importance of profiling local livestock farmers which aimed to enhance livestock productivity and resilience by gathering essential data on farmers, which will inform targeted support and resource optimization for the agricultural sector. The profiling exercise is part of a broader effort to improve farming practices and economic outcomes for the community, emphasizing collaboration between local leaders and agricultural initiatives like the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES).
Honourable Dr. Eric Odo, Chairman of Igbo Etiti Local Government, expressed gratitude for the Enugu Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) team’s visit to discuss profiling livestock farmers. He also has pledged to support the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) team in profiling livestock farmers in the area aligning with broader efforts to improve agricultural practices in Enugu State.
