The Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) in Enugu State has commenced its first round of third-party monitoring. Which refers to the process whereby independent entities or organizations assess the progress and impact of a project with a desired outcomes, such as improving livestock productivity, reducing vulnerability to climate change, and promoting sustainable farming practices. Maxvidel Limited, as an independent monitoring entity, has been tasked with evaluating the progress and impact of the L-PRES initiative in Enugu state.
The team (Maxvidel Limited) assessed various components of the project, including:
1. Implementation of Project Activities: Reviewing how well the project’s interventions have been executed in line with its objectives.
2. Impact Assessment: Evaluating the success of the project in improving livestock productivity, resilience to climate change, and the overall well-being of local farmers.
3. Resource Allocation and Utilization: Ensuring that project resources are being effectively utilized and that funds are being spent efficiently.
4. Community Engagement and Participation: Assessing how well the project has involved local communities and stakeholders, and whether their needs are being addressed.
The findings from this first-round monitoring will help ensure transparency and accountability in the execution of the L-PRES project. It will also provide valuable feedback for any necessary adjustments or improvements in the project’s implementation.
The L-PRES project, being a vital part of agricultural development in Enugu State, seeks to bolster the resilience of farmers to challenges like climate change, diseases, and market fluctuations, contributing to the overall growth of the livestock sector in the region. The feedback from the third-party monitoring will guide the project’s future actions and adjustments. The project aims to maintain high standards of governance and ensure that its objectives are met, ultimately supporting the sustainable growth of the livestock sector in Enugu State.
The State Project Cordinator, Dr Ifeyinwa Elizabeth Nnajieze commended all the PIUs and also appreciates the Third Party Monitoring Team(Maxvidel Limited) for their transparency and feedbacks to what can be improved on.
