Dr. Patrick Ubru, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Agro-Industrialization in Enugu State and State Project Coordinator of L-PRES, highlighted key agricultural achievements under Governor Peter Mbah’s administration to mark the governor’s 53rd birthday:
N2 Billion Farm Estate Initiative (2025): The state allocated N2 billion to establish farm estates across 260 wards. This “One Political Ward, One Farm Estate” initiative promotes food sufficiency, employment, and conflict resolution between farmers and herders through fenced estates.
Enugu Rice Brand: Enugu launched its own rice brand, showcasing the state’s progress in rice production. This initiative aims to make Enugu a leading rice-producing state while boosting farmers’ income.
Livestock Training: Over 450 livestock farmers were trained under L-PRES to transition into large-scale production, enhancing Enugu’s comparative advantage in livestock farming.
These efforts reflect Governor Mbah’s vision of transforming Enugu into an agricultural hub and reducing hunger by 2031
