The Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES) project recently conducted a sensitization visit to Nsukka Local Government Area in Enugu State. The initiative aimed to educate local officials and farmers on the importance of livestock profiling and mapping to enhance productivity and resilience in the sector. Key objectives included data collection on local farmers, fostering collaboration with local authorities, and optimizing resources for improved farm management.
Dr. Ifeyinwa Elizabeth Nnajieze, the State Project Coordinator for L-PRES Enugu was represented by Environmental Officer Dr. Enoch Nnamani and other staff of Enugu L-PRES recently led a sensitization initiative in Nsukka local government focusing on improving livestock productivity and resilience through targeted interventions. The project seeks to enhance farmers’ access to resources, veterinary services, and sustainable farming practices, ultimately fostering economic growth in the region.
Honourable Samuel Chidiebere Iyanyi, the Deputy Chairman of Nsukka Local Government, expressed his happiness upon receiving L-PRES Enugu. As a graduate of Agriculture from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), he welcomed the initiative aimed at empowering livestock farmers in his region. He pledged his support for this development, highlighting the importance of agricultural advancement in enhancing local livelihoods and economic growth. He has committed to collaborating with L-PRES Enugu to select and train farmers from various wards on a profiling exercise. This initiative aims to empower livestock farmers in the region, enabling them to self-profile and enhance their Gross Production (GP) metrics within the agricultural database. This effort underscores a focus on improving local agricultural practices and productivity through education and training.
