L-PRES Enugu visits Udenu,Igboeze North, Igboeze South Local government for Sensitisation

 

L-PRES Enugu recently visited farmers in Igbo Eze North, Igbo Eze South and Udenu Local Government Areas to promote agricultural productivity and sustainability. The engagement focused on informing livestock farmers about L-PRES projects powered by Federal and state government in conjunction with the world Bank initiatives which aimed at enhancing farming practices. This sensitization meeting served as a platform for knowledge sharing and encouraged local farmers to adopt sustainable methods, contributing to the overall development of the agricultural sector in the region.

Dr. Ifeyimwa Elizabeth Nnajieze was represented by Animal Husbandry Officer Dr. Jonathan Ossai during the sensitization exercise in the three local governments (i.e)Udenu, Igboeze North and South local government in Enugu State. The initiative aimed to educate the communities effectively, showcasing excellent presentations by Dr. Ossai and other officers from L-PRES Enugu.

Honourable Aka Eze Aka, Chairman of Udenu Local Government, expressed support for the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) in Enugu. He praised the initiative’s backing from the World Bank and government, emphasizing his commitment to engage local counselors to educate livestock farmers within the community. Livestock farmers in Udenu Local Government Area expressed satisfaction with the World Bank initiative supported by the Enugu State government through the L-PRES program. This initiative aims to enhance agricultural practices and improve livestock management, contributing to increased productivity and food security in the region. Farmers reported positive impacts from the program, highlighting its role in providing necessary resources and training for better livestock farming practices. These efforts align with broader strategies to boost agricultural innovation and adoption among local farmers in Enugu State.

Honourable Engineer Micheal Uchenna Ogalla, Chairman of Igboeze North Local Government, expressed enthusiasm during the visit from the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) in Enugu. He pledged his support for the initiative by instructing the Head of Department of Agriculture to mobilize enumerators for the livestock farmers’ profiling exercise. This collaboration aligns with L-PRES’s objectives to improve local agricultural practices and support farmers effectively.

The Secretary, Igboeze South Honourable Zaccheaus Ukwueze welcomed the L-PRES initiative in Enugu, expressing satisfaction with the World Bank-supported project. He committed to communicating with the local government chairman to ensure an immediate response regarding the profiling of livestock farmers, aimed at enhancing productivity in the region. This collaboration reflects a proactive approach to agricultural development and resource management within Igboeze South.

This effort highlights the importance of outreach in agricultural education and community engagement in the regions.
