Today 1st September 2024, The world bank Co-TTL embarks on Technical mission to Enugu State.The L-PRES (Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project) technical mission in Enugu aims to enhance the state’s livestock sector through targeted interventions. This initiative, supported by the World Bank, focuses on improving livestock productivity, resilience, and commercialization within selected value chains, including beef cattle, poultry, sheep, Piggery and goats.Key objectives of the mission include:
Capacity Building: The mission seeks to empower local livestock farmers by providing training and resources to improve livestock management practices.
Infrastructure Development: Plans are in place to establish Livestock Service Centers (LSCs) to facilitate better access to veterinary services and market opportunities for smallholder farmers.
Conflict Mitigation: The project also emphasizes strategies for crisis prevention and conflict resolution among livestock communities to foster a more stable environment for farming.
The World Bank has pledged significant support through L-PRES to bolster livestock production in Enugu, recognizing the sector’s potential to enhance economic stability and reduce poverty in rural areas.
